I have a Fixd scanner. The phone set-up was easy with no problems. The scanner connects to your phone through Bluetooth, but connects to information through the internet. The scan takes just a couple of minutes. If it finds any trouble codes it will tell you what the code means and what could be causing it. The tool does not say “faulty sensor – replace”, which I prefer. However, when I take it into the shop and talk with my advisor, the advisor knows that I have a pretty good idea of what is going on and doesn’t try to sell me things that won’t fix my problem. The tool will clear the code if you tell it to, so you can see if the code returns or if it was just a one-time thing. The phone app will keep all of your scans in history so you can catch re-emerging issues.

Fixd has a subscription-based program that gives you access to more stuff. There is live mechanic chat and an AI-based mechanic. They will even do live remote diagnostics and emissions prechecks. Another benefit of the subscription-based program is an Incident History Report that can include any reported accidents, flood or fire damage, and any major mechanical repairs. Because of my background, I didn’t sign up for the subscription because I have all that at my fingertips or in person daily.
One of the most important features of the App is the maintenance feature. Fixd database has the factory maintenance schedule. Meaning when the app recommends a service it is the same information you can find in your owner’s manual. You can record, in the app, services you have performed so the app will allow you to budget for maintenance, battery, and tire replacements. The app will also guide you through doing some of the maintenance yourself. In today’s economy, anything the helps you budget for necessary expenses is extremely important.

Currently, Fixd has partnered with Carvana to provide vehicle values for your car. They have also partnered with Carchex to provide an extended warranty. The app has a bunch of other cool little tools to explore. My favorite is the “Trip Mode”. While the tool is plugged in, it will monitor your speed, fuel level, and direction.
For what the Fixd scan tool is, it is a great product. Just remember, it does not fix your car. It provides good information so you can get your vehicle repaired quickly and as cost-effectively as possible. I purchased my Fixd scan tool from Amazon.
